Introduction to the DEWlineThe DEWline -- Distant Early Warning line -- was a series of radar stations
built above the Arctic Circle during the early years of the Cold War.
I was there for total of about 16 months working on the commissioning
of the communication equipment. While there I took a number of pictures
that are available here. I have annotated some of the photographs and
will continue to add to them as time permits. Charles S. Carney, the author of this site, died on February 23, 2004 after an extended illness. We know he would like you to continue to enjoy his work. We will continue the maintenance of this site for an indefinite period. The family of Charles S. Carney
